India has been long known for its diversity amongst a variety of aspects ranging from culture to language to religion to geographically. But lately it’s been haunted by the shady clouds of Diabetes. Diabetes is not a disease which can be cured by meds in a few weeks it’s rather a disorder which needs proper care; mentally and physically. Like any other disorder, Diabetes affects our health wholly and lashes itself for as long as it can. India has certainly became the capital for diabetic patients with an astounding 65 million of its populace thus far diagnosed with diabetes and 50 million with Type-2 diabetes, numbers we can’t be proud of.
The World Health Organization (WHO) had estimated that India will become a bulging habitat for over a 100 million diabetics by 2030 which is alarmingly hazardous for our country. Diabetes has been growing rapidly, apprehending every other Indian out of 5. India is second behind china in Diabetic patient counts, in only the last 2 years the graph has risen 2M in diabetics, India will soon overtake china in this department. Diabetes has its many adverse effects on us but when will we understand that this sugar disorder is killing us from within. Diagnosed patient’s age group has declined from an average of 25 to 15; even 7 year old kids are being diagnosed with Diabetes. Diabetes could also be a result of your parental and family genes which implies it runs in your blood but that doesn’t exclude the fact that you can’t prevent it from happening. Other reasons can vary from stress eating to sugar addiction to extremely unhealthy lifestyle. Acrimonious truth it is but India is becoming the diabetic capital of the world. So now it’s high time to take necessary action towards our health and stop chunking in that poisonous sugar because if you don’t, the consequences can and will be severe to us and to our family.
Diabetes is highly treatable with a properly organized lifestyle; Diabetes mellitus is now posing a greater threat to our mankind as currently 156M are affected by this grim phenomenon. A healthy brain dwells in a healthy body, who would want something that could chew you out slowly like a termite in the long run; no one would want to have that disorder, that disability. Eating heaps of pills upon pills daily is not sustainable. Living under the constant fear of getting bedridden and having to ‘pay’ a visit to those famed ‘clinics’ known all around town for their super neat money-laundering, who wouldn’t despise that. Having a healthy and fit body always directs towards a better life. With steps, precautions and a controlled appetite this devil named Diabetes can be defeated, In case you’ve diabetes already then you must follow the doctor’s guidelines and meticulous regime only then can you lay claim to a better, longer, heathier and brighter life ahead of you. The fact remains; there are still many a hurdles left to clear, in the fight against this worldwide threat.
But on the more optimistic side of things, research and awareness are ever on the rise, and this sure count to something. And with a focused approach along with an insatiable craving for a balanced diet, we can, and WE WILL find success!

#1. These days everybody seems to be having Diabetes, especially young men. Sitting comfortably in office for long hours and no physical activity; is the biggest cause for Type-2 diabetes.

ReplyDeleteDiagnosis (of type 1 diabetes) for me came in the form of four separate doctor’s failing to spot the symptoms that I presented with in the months preceding my eventual diagnosis until I eventually had become virtual catatonic and got carted to the ICU in Ennis General where I remained for a few days until I was stable enough to be moved to the wards
ReplyDeleteA small study of people attempting to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro in July and August 2005 found that 61% succeeded and 77% experienced acute mountain sickness (AMS).[59] Kilimanjaro’s summit is well above the altitude at which life-threatening high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) or high altitude cerebral edema (HACE), the most severe forms of AMS, can occur.
ReplyDeleteI think there are some good Ayurvedic and naturopathic cure for Diabetes. Baba Ramdev has been doing a lot for curing diabetes through healthy living and Ayurveda.
ReplyDeleteDiabetes is a life-style disease and can be easily avoided. But people can not avoid it because no one can resiste comforts of life and tastes of life. Greed is the root cause of diabetes.

ReplyDeletehave to eat the perfect breakfast to maintain your bloods, you can't go too high or too low before or during the exam, you stress about taking the test kit and hypo treatment into the hall, opening the noisy hypo treatment, not being able to focus on the paper because of out of range blood sugars....... The list goes on and on. It's a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteCountless times I have left the house without various pieces of kit: my meter, a bottle of Lucozade, test strips or a set change. But often it is an honest mistake, when you've glanced over your kit and just missed something or because you didn't use any of the kit yesterday that must mean it is all definitely there. An issue I often had is that I would see a closed test strip pot and presume it was full when it wasn't.
ReplyDeletehas honestly been a life saver, because although I do end up having piles of separated lids and empty pots appear when I turn my bag upside down, it's worth it. I've never made the mistake of taking an empty one with me since.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few diabetic friends that peel the label off their Lucozade, to meticulously measure 100mls, 200mls, 300mls and 380mls on the side of the bottle with a pen. Each hypo, they had to drink down to the next mark.
ReplyDeleteAs we’ve often heard, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. These moments of pleasure won’t solve all your problems. But research suggests that over time, as you focus on the good feelings, they will have a cumulative effect on your mood. By focusing on small things that make you feel better, even for a moment, you give your brain a chance to develop neural pathways that “hold” the good feelings. At the same time you will interrupt the flow of distress, including the mental activity that keeps you focused on your pain. Those moments of relief, even slight, can bring insight and energy for deeper change.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the strength and discipline to do this practice and get moving toward a relaxed and hopeful frame of mind.
Diabetes can be prevented to quite some extent. Moreover, management of diabetes is easier than ever before. With awareness, and alertness combined with necessary discipline to follow the full regime of regular monitoring and treatment, one can lead an almost normal life.
